Modular motion for the 9-5 grind

Millions of Americans sit at their 9 to 5 each day, and long hours of uninterrupted sitting can lead to a variety of health problems such as weakened leg muscles, back pain, and higher blood pressure.

Casper Boards founder Martin Melgoza, being one of those Americans, found that having a skateboard under his desk gave him a way to keep his legs and feet active throughout the day. Drawing further from the skateboarding culture of Los Angeles he grew up with, Martin became inspired to address the health issues that millions deal with every day and create a versatile solution.

The concept quickly evolved from a rough mockup to a functional 3D-printed prototype. Originally intended to be an evolution of Martin’s skateboard, the scope expanded to address the new wave of adjustable standing desks coming to the market.

The Casper Board was successfully funded on Indiegogo, raising 334% of its initial goal.

The Casper Board’s modular locking system allows it to serve a broad range of functions. When sitting at a desk, the two ball bearing attachments allow the user to push, pull, tilt, and roll the board omnidirectionally to stimulate the legs and feet. When standing, a balance board-style attachment can be used for core stimulation. The locking system also leaves the door open for future opportunities to expand the Casper Board platform, ensuring the user has everything they need to make their desk a health-oriented space.
